Qigong is not a psychic ability.
When I say that qigong energy is sent remotely to influence people, some people feel that it is magic, and wonder if it is a psychic ability, or if a qigong master who can do remote qigong is a psychic. I believe that qigong is not a psychic ability. Here I would like to explain why qigong is not a psychic ability.
What is psychic ability?
First, to distinguish between psychic ability and not psychic ability, let me define what psychic ability is. If we define psychic ability as a special ability to achieve what ordinary people cannot do, then remote qigong certainly fits this definition and is therefore psychic ability.
However, by this definition, a person who runs 100 meters in 9 seconds, for example, or a Shogi (Japanese chess) master would also fit the definition. Top athletes and geniuses may be outstanding, but they are not psychic abilities because their origins seem to be an extension of our normal abilities.
Here we limit ESP to Extrasensory Perception and PK to Psychokinesis as psychic ability. I think this is a common way to define psychic ability.
ESP is an input (receiving) system ability, while PK is an output system ability. Generally speaking, a person with ESP ability can also be a person with PK ability, but not vice versa. PK ability is the ability to physically move objects with one’s intention.
- Is qigong a psychic ability?
Now, let’s move on to the main question, “Is qigong a psychic ability?” The ability to send energy remotely is an output system ability. Is it PK? No, it does not. This is because what is being moved is not a physical entity and the person being affected is not physically changed.
Then, is the ability to receive qigong energy a psychic ability?
This also does not fall under the ESP-type ability mentioned above. To be precise, when we direct our consciousness to something that exists remotely, that is, when we think of a distant person or remember a distant place that we have visited before, the memory of that person or place is evoked and we can receive the energy of that person or place. This is not a psychic ability, as it is a normal ability that we all have.
- Don’t seek psychic abilities.
So what kind of ability is qigong?
I believe that it is a function of consciousness that people are normally equipped with, and that a qigong master is a person who has trained himself to use it at will. Also, as I have written repeatedly in other articles, I believe that the act of praying is one format of how to operate consciousness, which is common to all human beings, and in my eyes it appears to be doing the same thing as remote qigong.
If only a qigong master can use chi energy, then it should not be possible for a non-qigong master to receive the effects of a qigong treatment.
And since qigong is a function of consciousness, I am convinced by practical experience that it is possible to improve with training.
As ESP is the ability to “perceive,” this is also a function of consciousness. We can say that the function of our consciousness is in contact with ESP. So, can ESP be practiced in the same way as qigong?
The answer is probably yes. In fact, there have been people throughout the ages who have undertaken intense training in order to obtain ESP. It is not hard to understand why people admire those who are born with ESP and want to have that ability.
However, I do not recommend that you practice for psychic ability. The reason is that psychic ability is so outstanding that there is a great deal to lose by acquiring it. The capacity of human abilities is fixed to some extent, and it is suitable for social life to have abilities in good balance within that capacity. Acquiring psychic abilities greatly disturbs this balance and often causes difficulties in social life.
Qigong has a positive effect, such as better health, as you improve, but it does not interfere with your social life. This is another reason why we believe qigong is completely different from psychic abilities.
